Kyle's Horse Skid

A few weeks ago I was talking to mom on the phone when she went out to check Skid. And it was the day everyone had been dreading. Our incredibly old horse had passed away. It was a sad day for everyone. Skid was first Gilbert's horse, I rode him some but he was mostly Gil's. Then Gil let Kyler ride him. Next Ryan rode him some but he also rode Crockett. Then Skid was Thad's. And finally he was Kyle's horse.

Skid was such a good horse. He was a mountain horse, a prairie horse, a rodeo horse, a parade horse, a kid horse, and just an all around good horse. He was not the fastest horse and he had a crooked neck but he let any kid ride him and he got them home safe.

This was last July when Kyle got to ride Skid alone in the parade. When all the other horses were going crazy in the parade and we all had to get off and get the horses off the road, Kyle was just hanging out having the best time because his horse was use to the craziness of a parade. And he got my baby home safe.

This was before all the commotion happened. Kyle thought he was pretty cool.

This was obviously the year before because we did not make it this far last year. Skid led many a parade.

Kyle and Thad and Skid.

Thad and JD.

A couple weeks ago in primary Kyle was telling everyone about his horse Skid and how he rides him at Grandma Kathy's and then again at the dinner table he started talking about him. So Matt told him what had happened. He was speechless for a few minutes. I could just see his mind trying to understand what had happened. Probably how we all looked when mom told us about it. Skid was able to go in a peaceful way and is at the Jensen Ranch where he spent alot of time getting rode and getting fat. We will all miss Skid and I am happy that my boys got to ride the horse that I loved to ride.
