Around the 4th of July we usually like to go camping with a few friends to a place on 25 Mesa called the Gravel Pits. This year we went for a couple nights, one night Brian, Rachel, Sean and Shayna came, and the other night CJ and Kyrie came up. We always have lots of fun with them. This year was no different.
Mom gave us her camper that used to be the camper for cow camp. I remember staying in it when I was younger, so it is pretty old, but it sure worked good. While we were there it rained quite a bit but we had a nice dry place to get in to. I hate staying in a tent so I was super happy to have the camper.
Matt, Kyle, JD, and Me got up to the campsite first and set up camp and started dinner and the boys helped Matt find some wood. Then a few hours latter the Dales got there, just after it had rained the first time. It wasn't a bad rain but it left a beautiful rainbow. In fact it left two rainbows it is had to see the second one and the bright one was a full rainbow but I couldn't get the whole thing.

By the time it was it got dark the boys were actually ready to go bed. It had been a long day of getting ready to go camping since we weren't even going to leave till the next day. So since for the last two years me and the boys have stayed in the Dales camper and made Brain and Matt sleep in the tent we decided to all sleep in our camper so that Brian didn't have to try to get their camper ready. We put Kyle and Sean on the top bunk and JD and Shay on the bottom (or as JD likes to call it the down). Me and Matt slept on the table bed and Brian and Rach slept on the futon. Oh and of course Gus had to sleep in the camper as well. So it was a pretty full house but everyone slept good.....at least that's what everyone said. Nobody had a watch so when Brian was the first to wake up then Kyle then me I looked at the cell phone and to every one's disappointment it was 5:50am...So a few (Me, Brian, Kyle and Sean) got up and built a fire and got ready for the day....slowly Rachel, Matt and Shayna got up....JD slept in til about 8:30 (he doesn't even do that at home) but he was all happy when he came to the door and found that breakfast was already ready. And breakfast was sooo good! But everything always tastes better when you are camping. That morning I also put a roast in my dutch oven to cook all day, it was one of my grandpa's recipes. That night we has the best roast ever. I was so happy it turned out good. I wanted to make some tortillas too but of course it rained.

Kyle and JD loved that they got to share their beds with two of their favorite people in the world and the people we name ALL of our animals after.

Don't they all look so cozy!

The boys love to ride the 4-wheeler with Matt so as soon as they got a chance they hoped on and went for a ride. At the Gravel Pitts there is some big hills and loop de loops (THE TWO DOWN HILL!!!!)(not sure why it is called that. Kyrie named it that last year.) Anyway you do not see any pictures of that because as a mother I refuse to watch my children and husband do such reckless things. It is better that I remain clueless. Matt took the boys and all kinds of rides through the forest where they saw horse tracks (totally awesome) and a place you can look out and see a really long ways, it is really pretty. While JD was taking a nap I took Kyle for a few rides down the road a ways and looked around at the forest around us and got a little freaked out. It was definitely bear country.

Kyle, Shay, and JD getting ready to shoot Shayna's BB gun.

Rachel was nice enough to take this awful picture of me.

Kyle shooting the BB gun.

JD's turn. Don't you like the open fly. That boy is so cute!

He slept in and had a really good nap!

Gus and the Dales dog Zip. We got Gus from the Dales so Gus and Zip are old friends, and both really good dogs.

Did I mention that it rained some while we were there. Matt took me for a ride on the 4-wheeler. We went quite a ways and all of a sudden it got really dark and just came down hard. By the time we got to the camper everyone was inside waiting for us with the door open and Rachel with the camera...again not a great picture.

The three brothers! A while back Gus was in the house and he kept whining so I told him to shut-up. Shut-up is not allowed in our house but it just came out. The boys were so disappointed in me. They kept telling me we don't say that Gus is our brother. We don't say that to our brother.

Then there was the fishing. Those little fish were pretty hungry. They kept stealing our bait! Matt would put some on and feel a nibble and reel it in and the bait was gone. We did all catch one and had a really good time. One time when the bait was gone Kyle tells me "that fish says thank you I was hungry" he was so serious it was funny.

Kyle loves to climb and thing. It was so pretty up there. I wish I would have gotten some pictures of all the flowers. One morning I went for a walk and picked a whole bunch of wild flowers and put them in a cup. I got to looking at them and decided to throw them in the fire because they had ticks on them. I itched for a long time after and I checked myself really good for ticks. But I could have gotten a good picture of them before I threw them out.
Okay, so yea we missed out on some good times...which truly sucks! But just think next year we can drive from MT to camp Colorado! I will miss you so!
