Thanksgiving 2010
This year for Thanksgiving I had a crazy idea to have it at our home. On the Monday before I did my shopping and came home and told Matt I didn't know it was so much work to have Thanksgiving dinner and all I had done was the shopping. I knew I was in for a long week. Mom and Clay and Robyn and the boys came. Coy and his family staid in Utah and Gilbert wasn't able to come either. So there was just ten of us. I had Mom and Robyn bring a few things. The thing I didn't think of when I said I wanted to do it at our house is that my oven is terrible! So I decided I better not try to cook a raw turkey, so we could at least eat by 10pm. I decided to get a small smoked turkey and a small smoked ham and we ate by 2:30 pm. It worked out pretty good. There was plenty of meat and everyone liked it. So anyway on Wednesday I cleaned the house and made pies and pretzel salad, the pies were all in the oven for at least 40 minutes longer than they were supposed to take, making my decision to get smoked meat seem like a very good idea. On Thursday I still had one pie to make. I wanted to make an apple pie. Not just any apple pie, The Best Apple Pie EVER! I had to call Brittony several times during the pie making process. She makes a The Best Apple Pie EVER very good. I apparently do NOT! Thank goodness the pumpkin and pecan pies turned out because my apple pie was runny and to tart.
Anyway aside from the pie everything was so good and turned out great. It was so nice to have my mom and brother and his family at our house. The next day was of course Black Friday. Me, Mom, and Robyn got up at 5 am and went to Wal-Mart then made it up to the mall by 7:30 am we shopped pretty hard most of the day. Then they all went out to Utah to see Grandma Reba, and Coy and his family. It was a great Thanksgiving, I was pretty happy it was over though.
